• Set up, cynically, by the Kiwanis’ Marina C. Urot

Assisting impoverished communities, one step at a time, one individual at a time.

Due to the misconduct of the Cebu Kiwanis branch, the “assistance” provided to the babysitter turned into a toxic festering nightmare, contrary to both religious principles and Kiwanis values.

Under the influence of Marina C. Urot, Joseph ‘Bernz” (or ‘Omar’) Bernabe from San Fernando, Cebu, subjected the financially disadvantaged babysitter to demeaning sexual servitude, leading to an escalation of Joseph’s inappropriate demands.

This occurred while Janz was employed at a spa in the Middle East.

As for the Cebu Kiwanis branch, Marina C. Urot misused her authority by directing her 14-year old “scholar ” (at $1 per day), to monitor her daughter’s partner, Joseph “Omar” or “Bernz” Bernabe, already known for his abusive behavior towards women.

Despite claims of religious motivation, Urot’s actions failed to protect the babysitter and exposed her to potential harm.

Notably, not all Kiwanis branches operate with the same standards.

  • Calcified.

Joseph "Bernz" Bernabe gently pawed over his 6-month old son laying motionless between them, and firmly planted himself above her tiny frame.

“I can teach you how to kiss,” he whispered in the darkness.

She could feel his fingers tugging her shorts downward, and then her underpants.

The Yaya was frozen, calcified, not understanding what was happening.

The Babysitter was now light years away from home.
  • And I will strike down upon thee

In the grand tapestry of cosmic justice, God’s unwavering eye bore witness to the maleficence of Joseph Omar Bernabe of Cebu, forever binding his name to the chilling chronicle of shattered purity and the enduring scars etched upon the fragile soul of a tender, innocent young girl.

On Omar’s Watch exposes the tragic consequences of sexual class warfare, particularly against poor children of color, and the lasting torment faced by victims of sexual child abuse.

But On Omar’s Watch is also a story of a remarkable recovery, a 13-year struggle in which the victim overcomes the wickedness of Cebu’s sociopath, Joseph Omar Bernz Bernabe. The yaya ultimately manages to attend college and build a meaningful and productive life with her two children and politically influential fiancé.

  • “Sleep with me and the baby. It’s closer to the kitchen”

It was pitch black. The cement walls and green curtains by the window were no longer visible.

In the superstitious provinces of Cebu, darkness is dreaded by children and often associated with the arrival of spirits.

San Fernando’s Joseph Omar Bernabe knew this, of course. Removing any source of light would easily disorient the timid 14-year old.

He gently pawed over his 6-month old son laying motionless between them, and firmly planted himself above her tiny frame.

“I will teach you how to kiss,” he whispered in the darkness.

She could feel his Joseph Bernabe’s fingers tugging her shorts downward, and then her underpants.

The Yaya was frozen, calcified, not understanding what was happening.

But Joseph Omar Bernabe’s muffled whisper clarified the situation.

    “Only the tip, promise.”

What felt like a thousand tiny needles were soon tearing her insides, forcing a stream of tears down the sides of her face that she tried ever so hard to conceal.

    Soul murder.

This piece recounts events occurring between May 3rd 2010 through April 11th 2012. The events transpired across Azienda Firenze, San Fernando, and Gingoog City, Philippines.

Testimony of primary and secondary sources have been meticulously documented over a period of 3 years.

Certain names have not been used at this time in order to protect the privacy of the victim.

  • Welcome to San Fernando, Cebu

“I only used my tip,” Cebu’s Joseph ‘Omar’ Bernabe whispered to the weeping babysitter as he crawled back towards his sleeping infant. But the photograph below – taken 5/24/2010 at the barangay health clinic 2.2 kms outside of Azienda Firenze, Philippines – proved otherwise.

While secretly at the clinic, the sobbing 14-year old yaya told Dr. Mengito that Bernabe’s violation felt like “a thousand tiny needles tearing her insides” in spite of his diminutive size.

But Joseph Bernz Bernabe’s cruel theft of the 14-year old’s virginity would only be the beginning of the nightmare.

  • Incitement in Azienda Firenze

After fighting off Cesar’s attempted rape, the terrified 14-year old hid in the bathroom and phoned her ‘boss’ for help. “Submit to Cesar,” Cebu’s Joseph Bernz Bernabe replied. “Let him use your body—enjoy it.”

  • Child Predator I On Omar’s Watch I Cebu’s Joseph Bernabe I Philippines

On Omar’s Watch is the 2010 story of an impoverished 14-year old from the Philippines, whose life spirals into darkness after being sexually abused by Cebu’s Joseph ‘Omar’ Bernabe, the father of the infant she babysits.

Masquerading as a God-fearing, family man, Joseph ‘Omar’ Bernabe (aka, Joseph ‘Bernz’ Bernabe) from San Fernando, Cebu waits until his wife is employed by a hotel spa in the Middle East, and then uses manipulation, humiliation, and mind control to coerce their naïve babysitter into demeaning, ongoing sexual servitude.

When the adolescent resettles back to her barangay, she is broken by shame and self-loathing, chastised by gossip, and becomes paralyzed by excruciating depression and anxiety.

Masked by a cheery facade, she quits school and rapidly descends down a torturous path of alcohol abuse, sexual addiction, and twice attempts suicide.

She was now On Omar’s Watch.
